Call for Participation: YorkU Undergraduate Symposium "Ethnography and Storytelling"

Contingent Horizons would like to present previous contributors with an opportunity to showcase their published works.

 

York University’s Department of Anthropology is hosting an “Ethnography and Storytelling” Undergraduate Symposium on November 30, 2024, on Keele Campus. The journal is inviting previous contributors to participate as panellists at the event. For the panel, we invite you to talk about your work published through Contingent Horizons and how your work has evolved over time. While the event highlights undergraduate works, all previous contributors for Contingent Horizons are welcome to submit for participation at the event. 

 

The deadline for participation is October 28, 2024. Please contact the Editorial Collective at contingenthorizons@yorku.ca for more information or to indicate your willingness to participate.

Call for Submissions: Deadline December 15 2024

Contingent Horizons: The York University Student Journal of Anthropology is currently accepting submissions of original, unpublished works for publication in our ninth volume. The theme for this issue is “RESONANCE.” As a peer-reviewed, open-access journal, we aim to showcase scholarly and creative works of academic excellence by graduate and undergraduate students. We are also recruiting undergraduate and graduate students as peer reviewers.

Contingent Horizons: The York University Student Journal of Anthropology is currently accepting applications to its Editorial Collective for the following positions: Section Editors: Research, Section Editors: Reviews & Creative Works, Section Editors: Blog & Social Media, Managing Editor, Editorial Assistant, and the Production Editor: Journal Design and Composition.

The Editorial Collective is responsible for managing the journal’s publication process and conducting all relevant activities, including workshops and events. Editors are graduate and undergraduate students at York University.

Contingent Horizons: The York University Student Journal of Anthropology is currently accepting submissions for its 9th volume, to be published in Summer 2023. As a peer-reviewed, open-access journal, we aim to showcase scholarly and creative works of academic excellence by graduate and undergraduate students. We invite prospective contributors to submit their original, unpublished works for consideration. Selected submissions will be published online with complimentary print copies provided to the authors.

Contingent Horizons is currently accepting graduate and undergraduate submissions of original works that pertain to the discipline of anthropology, including ethnographic research articles, reviews (book reviews, ethnographic film reviews, exhibit reviews, album reviews), and creative works (photo essays, creative non-fiction, pedagogical tools, fieldwork reflections, interviews, and other pieces). We are also recruiting both undergraduate and graduate students who are willing to act as peer reviewers for the journal.

Contingent Horizons has extended its call for submissions deadline for the upcoming thematic issue on Disruption and is currently accepting graduate and undergraduate submissions of original works that pertain to the discipline of anthropology, including ethnographic research articles, reviews (book reviews, ethnographic film reviews, exhibit reviews, album reviews), and creative works (photo essays, creative non-fiction, pedagogical tools, fieldwork reflections, interviews, and other pieces). Call for Papers & Peer Reviewers 2020/21 – Theme: Disruption (Deadline November 2nd, 2020)

Contingent Horizons: The York University Student Journal of Anthropology is currently accepting submissions for its seventh volume, to be published Spring 2021. We invite submissions of original works that pertain to the discipline of anthropology, specifically relating to the issue’s theme of Disruption. We think of disruption in a broad sense, encompassing questions of change and resistance, adaptation and care, transformation and potential, from the endemic to the epidemic.

We are also recruiting both undergraduate and graduate students who are willing to act as peer reviewers for the journal.
